Where a calculator on the ENIAC is equipped with 18,000 vacuum tubes and weighs 30 tons, computers in the future may have only 1,000 vacuum tubes and perhaps weigh 1.5 tons.

Welcome to the new site!

As you can see we have a new URL, boxchronicle.com. We found it very appropriate for the subject! The site has also been redesigned on the backend, mostly the database and the overall look/layout. We hope you like it!

About the site

Started as a college project, it has been added onto and expanded over time. When work first began, there wasn't any single place where you could get this much information on the web and it has filled a nice niche. It has exceeded expectations, generating a lot of traffic. Hopefully it serves as a resource for everyone wanting to learn about the history of arguably the greatest technology of all.

This site takes a look at all of the great moments in computer history, from the first computer and beyond. This will be an ongoing project, and eventually much more will be added. Enjoy!
